National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS)

National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) is a premier institute located in southern Bengaluru. Spread out over 135 acres, it has bountiful greenery. NIMHANS had a humble beginning in 1925 as a mental asylum. Later, in the year 1955, neurosciences were added. It has recently been recognised as Institute of National Importance. The institute has 870 bedded hospital that provides clinical services of neurology, neurosurgery and psychiatry. Various basic science departments have facilities for advanced research. The institute provides post-graduate training in the various branches of neurosciences and psychiatry.

National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), situated in the heart of the garden city, is a familiar landmark in Bengaluru. NIMHANS and the convention centre are situated on Hosur Road — an arterial road that emanates from the centre of Bengaluru and leads to Electronic city — part of the city that stretches up to Hosur in Tamil Nadu. The conference venue, NIMHANS Convention Centre is located within the northern side of NIMHANS campus. Easily accessible from all parts of the city, the campus is around 40 km away from the Kempegowda International Airport and approximately 8 km from the Bengaluru City Railway Station and 7 km from Kempegowda Bus Station (or Majestic Bus Stand).

Built in the year 2002, NIMHANS convention centre is the most important centre for holding conventions in the city of Bengaluru. The state-of- the-art Convention Centre offers exceptional facilities for conferences, seminars, trade shows, expositions, and media events. The Centre houses three auditoriums with advanced amenities and seating capacities ranging from 170 to 860. The Centre also has well-appointed dining hall, board room, storage and guest rooms, poster area and ample parking facility. Other halls for demonstration workshops are located within walking distance inside the NIMHANS Campus.
